Why I choose this painting: The first time I heard the tragic story of this woman from Roma, I was sad and shocked and thought : what a mess, what an unfair fate, what a confusion due to obscure historical values, why this dilemma ? And I automatically linked her to the reverse meaning of the two of swords. Lucretia is also a recurring figure in the Renaissance painting (Artemisia Gentileschi, Veronese, Botticelli, etc)

Pourquoi j'ai choisi ce tableau: La première fois que j'ai entendu l'histoire tragique de cette femme romaine, ça m'a beaucoup touché et j'ai pensé: quel gâchis, quel destin injuste, quelle confusion due à des valeurs historiques obscures, pourquoi ce dilemme? Et je l'ai automatiquement liée à la signification inverse des deux épées. La Lucrèce est également une figure récurrente de la peinture de la Renaissance (Artemisia Gentileschi, Veronese, Botticelli, etc.)
