III. The Empress

Why I chose this painting : For me, the empress is Nature. She bursts, she's a solar femininity, she expands with no rule to stop her. The Rossetti's painting of a bright self-serving Lilith combines the traditionnal Aphrodite vision with something more invasive.

Pourquoi j'ai choisi ce tableau : Pour moi, l'impératrice c'est la Nature. Elle éclate, c'est une féminité solaire, elle se dilate sans aucune règle pour l'arrêter. Le tableau de Rossetti de cette Lilith éclatante et autosuffisante combine la vision traditionnelle d'Aphrodite avec quelque chose de plus envahissant.
